Highly qualified in economics and management, and multilingual with four languages, this client had been working in unrelated fields since moving to Australia several years previously. He was now seeking a public service position at APS5 level in a completely different and very specific area. He needed to address two key selection criteria for the position, at a maximum of 500 words per point.

With a background in other public service positions, as well as the private sector, this repeat client was seeking a change in career direction. A week or so before I wrote a selection criteria response for her relating to a different position.
Pursuing a more senior role in the area of student and academic services, this client required an updated resume and cover letter. Her existing resume did not include her current position, which she had been in for four years. During her consultation, we discussed what she wanted from having a new resume prepared, and this included a focus on knowledge and experience gained in her current job.
With an extensive career in nursing, this client was interested in applying for promotion to a role she had previously acted in for six months and needed to update her existing resume. During her consultation the client expressed her desire to have a professional resume prepared in readiness to accompany her application for this position to give her the best possible chance of getting the job.
Already working in the Australian Taxation Office in a contract position, this client was eager to secure a permanent position. The client’s qualifications included a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Applied Finance. She was also enrolled with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, due to complete within months. Prior to joining the Australian Public Service, the client had worked as an accountant with two accounting firms.
Engaging Select Resumes to update her resume to support her application for a new position, this client, a senior nurse, decided to have us write her response to the position’s selection criteria. Applicants needed to demonstrate, in a two-page document, five key technical and behavioural capabilities, and their knowledge and experience, within the context of the responsibilities described under 11 key accountabilities. In addition, the client asked for her domain responsibilities to be incorporated into the answers. Together we went through the responsibilities and discussed the most appropriate ways to address these.
Seeking to change direction in her career, this client was applying for an Australian Public Service position in a field that was largely new to her. Wishing to ‘get out from behind a desk’ the client wanted a position that more fully utilised her excellent communication and interpersonal skills and her innate desire to help people.
Looking to move from the private sector to the Australian Public Service, this client sought a key selection criteria statement for a position as Tax Officer. With previous experience in related fields, the client had also run her own bookkeeping consultancy for over ten years.
Highly motivated and positive, this client with a military service background was due to complete a Bachelor of Paramedicine and was seeking an intern position. While serving in Afghanistan the client had witnessed the work of the medics and decided that when he returned to civilian life, he wanted to become a paramedic.
Due to complete her veterinarian degree, this client was seeking full-time employment as a vet. She required her resume to be updated, together with a cover letter for a position with a regional veterinarian practice. Her existing resume was basic without much detail, so we worked together on expanding information about her previous employment, including some community voluntary work that was not included in the original resume.
