Real Estate | Property Manager Resume Update
The client has worked formally in IT and latterly in real estate. However, in the past year, he decided to become a business owner and bought a franchise domestic cleaning company. However, he is now experiencing buyer’s remorse and is not making anywhere near the money he made in this business as he did in real estate and now wishes to sell the company and get back into property management.
The problem was to show that this was a positive move rather than one that had any negative connotations. I agreed with the client that the best way to approach this was to state that he wanted to experience running an SME in a partially congruent business sector and had taken the company as far he could within the scope of building local clientele and market penetration.
Having satisfied that ambition, he was now prepared to re-enter property management with a new perspective and set of skills. The resume now also needed to emphasise his congruent soft skills as a transitionary tool.
This meant a complete re-write of his Professional Profile, Career Outlook and Key Skills and Attributes. This was mainly due to his previous resume having followed a logical upward progression through various real estate positions.
The client was very amenable to my suggestions as he was concerned about how to approach his new resume. He literally had no idea how to turn a negative business choice into a positive. By underlining his customer service, engagement, people and property skills, I was able to seamlessly create a harmonious transition from his business enterprise back into property management.
