Long term loyal administrator ready for a change

Having offered over 25 years of service to her current employer, this client was ready to make a brave move, seeking out new work challenges. She needed not only technical resume writing assistance but also some reassurance of her transferable and advantageous skills to boost her confidence that she would be seen as a valuable potential employee by employers and recruiters. Having never required a resume before, I explained how I would like to set it out to the client and the rationale behind each section. Then, we set about examining her role progressions, skills she had obtained and competencies she had, all of which had been ‘simply her job’ in her mind. We were able to discover that she, in fact, had a broad suite of very valuable administrative and customer services capabilities.

The client hadn’t yet felt a connection with any of the design choices, so we scrolled through some together. Wanting the focus to be the content, and being a ‘black and white sort of person’ the images and overly artistic designs didn’t appeal to her. We eventually found a template that she described as the one. I rung off our call with the client ready to search for jobs ads that attracted her and to send me, so I could tailor her cover letter to the types of roles she was going to apply for.

In writing this clients documents, I highlighted not only her skills but also her personal attributes that significantly contributed to her ability to offer superior customer service and unwavering support to the management team she assisted in an administrative capacity. Feeling more encouraged by her new view on what she has to offer prospective employers, I believe her confidence will increase exponentially once she has her new resume in hand. I believe self-confidence has an amazing potential to land you your dream job.
