Labourer and Operator – Council
The brief for this position was to write four selection criteria for a council position, as well as a cover letter. The position listed four separate points to be addressed, mainly focused around practical experience, teamwork and communication.
The client had a highly relevant skill set, and just needed assistance in demonstrating these skills in line with the council’s values and requirements.
During the consultation, we discussed his previous work experience and how these related to the position he was applying for. I was able to obtain specific skills and experience that showed his suitability for the position, listing his responsibilities and the industries he had worked within.
The points relating to communication and teamwork required actual examples, where the client was encouraged to think of a situation, tasks, actions and results that demonstrated his suitability. In addition to these examples, we incorporated his knowledge of workplace health and safety, continuous improvement and also showcased examples of the core values of the council.
