Graduate Nurse (QLD Health) Resume and Cover Letter
Due to finish her dual nursing and paramedicine degree in December, the client wanted a professional resume and cover letter. She intended to apply to the Queensland Health graduate nursing intake in August.
Working as a Supported Living Facilitator, the client had completed more than 500 hours of practicum placements. She had experience across various areas of disability, hospital, and paramedical care. During the consultation, we discussed her experience, abilities and attributes that would underpin her successful nursing career.
Relatively satisfied with the tone and content of her existing resume and cover letter, she was looking to make it stand out. We achieved this by showcasing her experience and abilities using the STAR methodology, jazzed up the design, and kept the resume to two pages.
When writing, I reflected keywords featured in the QLD Health advertisement and website. Showing that my client had a clear alignment to the role and cultural fit, we were able to back up those claims with examples. We also incorporated some stellar comments from her practicum placement supervisors.
Tailoring the cover letter to the QLD Health Graduate Nurse intake, it captured her drive and passion. The client can easily edit the cover letter for other general nursing roles in the future.
Generally happy with the documents, the client wanted some additional detail included. We had a brief further consultation, and the revised documents were delivered to her within an hour.
