The client, a new graduate Registered Nurse, required a targeted cover letter for a transition to practice program. The main aim was to showcase a broad range of clinical and personal capabilities. In addition, the brief required the applicant to communicate key motivations, career aspirations and specific clinical interest areas.
The consultation was centred on drawing out the client’s main aspirations and area of clinical interest. Clinical placement feedback was discussed, with the key strengths from facilitator feedback informing the content of the letter.
The final piece focused on qualities such as communication, commitment to quality and collaborative practice, as well as demonstrating clinical competence. The facilities values were also integrated to tie the candidate’s practice to the offering of the health service.
