Facilities Manager
Now seeking a Facilities Manager role, my client worked as a competent and respected ‘jack of all trades’ in the building and construction industry for a period of twenty-three years before being recommended for a school maintenance manager role. Since that time, he has overseen the renovation and maintenance of two high-quality educational facilities within his local community – a role in which he holds great pride. Having decided to relocate for family reasons and a sea change, he sought out the services of Select Resumes to apply for a Facilities Manager position that would help better position him in light of his goals.
- Leadership and management
The client has overseen large-scale building projects and has made significant improvements and modifications to two well known educational facilities in his region. He has been promoted to higher duties within recent years to incorporate business and financial administration skills into his role. Overseeing various contractors and tradespersons works, he is well versed in making decisions and taking a strong leadership stance.
- Building and facilities maintenance
With a long-standing background covering many aspects of the construction industry, my client is highly skilled and knowledgeable regarding technical knowledge and maintenance. Since being employed in school maintenance and facilities management, he can complete many minor tasks himself but can also identify and resource the best contractor for the job in terms of larger tasks.
- Interpersonal and customer service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, building positive relationships with staff, stakeholders and customers and maintaining a respected name in the community. My client takes pride in serving his community and has a well-established name with local businesses and contractors and amongst the school community.
To put together this Facilities Manager application, I initially walked the client through the points of key selection criteria for the specific role he is seeking. Seeking to identify his relevant knowledge and skills along with clear, practical examples assisted in gaining a clear picture of my client’s characteristics, values, and abilities. I drew examples for each criterion through open and closed questioning techniques.
As a result of preparing for the consultation by familiarising myself with the client’s company, employment history information and position descriptions relevant to both the ole being sought and previously held roles, I was able to direct the conversation to ascertain a clear picture of my client and his career outlook. I am confident that the end product will achieve results for my client in securing an interview for his position.
