The candidate was an experienced operator, looking to gain experience in a different industry sector. She had a specific job she was applying for and was an excellent fit for the role with her experience, tickets and location. However, with the current job market, it was essential to enable her application to stand out from the crowd. Having never had a resume, it was a clean slate to work from.

During our consult, we discussed her experience, and the attributes that we felt were important when applying for mine site roles – such as experience working in a remote environment, experience with shift work and FIFO rosters, teamwork, knowledge of production and targets, and the safety initiatives and awareness. I was then able to incorporate these into her key skills, as well as her opening Professional Profile – immediately pitting her as an experienced candidate who could immediately adjust to working in a new, remote environment.

Her resume lists all of her operating experience, as well as the specific types of machinery.

The advertisement mentioned that they were encouraging female workers to apply. Typically gender is not something to highlight, but in this instance, it was mentioned within both the cover letter and the resume that she was an experienced female candidate, whose skillset was highly regarded and respected in a male-dominated environment.
