APS Entry Level Resume and Cover Letter – Administration by Mel J.
This client had over four years of experience in administration and customer service in corporate environments. Eager to forge a career in the APS, there was not yet a specific job she was applying for, but the resume and cover letter were to be targeted toward public sector roles.
The client had many great administration skills, and it was important to demonstrate that she was experienced working within a process-driven environment, meeting standards, and able to manage an administrative workflow. The client had many good examples of how she had streamlined processes, leading to increased accuracy and efficiency. With the APS eager to recruit high performing people, these examples also showed how she could easily adapt to new systems, software and procedures.
During the consultation, we discussed her previous roles and the skills and values that would suit a public sector role. With the focus on inclusion and diversity, we were able to demonstrate her ability to adapt her communication style to suit different audiences and to utilise tact, discretion and professionalism in all of her dealings.
The client has a strong set of documents ready to use when applying for future roles, and these will be complemented by specific key selection criteria if required.
