Electrician entering the mining industry
This client was a qualified Electrician who had worked predominantly in the domestic sector. After gaining a substantial range of skills, he was eager to seek employment within the mining industry and needed a resume that showed his adaptability, transferrable skill set, and willingness to learn.
During the consultation we discussed his technical skills, and the skills that a mining industry organisation would look for – namely, a good understanding of workplace health and safety, environmental awareness and the ability to work within multi-disciplined teams. The client was able to demonstrate each of these on his resume and would now be prepared to give examples at an interview.
Even though his skills were related to the domestic market, we were able to demonstrate how he can follow procedures and meet industry standards, and therefore be able to work within any sector by applying his technical skills. This was complemented by his willingness to undertake training and gain a solid understanding of the mining and resources industry, work in a remote area, and work his way towards a leadership role in future.
