Junior Receptionist Government Role

A young professional with an extensive experience in reception, volunteering and customer-focused roles, the client was eager to take the next step in her career. Her short-term goal was to join the Australian Defence Force as an entry-level receptionist, keeping in mind her long-term plan to grow into a leadership role within the Federal or State Government.

Throughout our consultation, the client provided me with great details about her achievements on both professional and study levels. Indeed, she volunteered at her school holding four different roles supporting different organisations, and was nominated in leadership roles multiple years in a row, she possessed four TAFE qualifications and worked in hospitality, in addition to a receptionist role held for a year; she was not even 20 years old. My role was to pick the relevant information in order to tailor her documents to the public role she was applying for, which involved reading about the Defence Force in addition to the specific role. Highlighting her relevant skills and experience whilst using specific wording from the position description, I was able to draft a strong resume and cover letter.
