The client had been working within the hospitality industry for over 12 years. She completed a certificate in event and hospitality management, as well as a multimedia bachelor degree, as her true passion was for computers all around. She was eager to embrace a career where she could utilise her advanced technical knowledge and skills to their full extent, supplying administrative and clerical functions.
With a professional background of customer-focused and chef roles, the client was worried her resume and cover letter would not to reflect the right profile for an administration role. Throughout our consultation, I explained to her the value of her transferable skills, such as but not limited to customer service, working under pressure, clear communication and ability to plan and coordinate, along with her experience in using a wide range of computer programs and systems. By showing her this wider approach, the client was able to share specific examples of situations utilising relevant skills, which I could then present in a relatable and efficient manner, using the STAR (situation, task, action, result) system.
The documents supplied would stand out with a strong and methodical display of abilities, coupled with a sober design to meet a clear office style. Through her resume and cover letter, the client would present herself as a confident and enthusiastic candidate, and I am looking forward to hearing about her successful applications in the near future.
