For this order, the client had over two decades of experience working as an Electrical Engineer in both in Australia, as well as his home country in Europe. The client was not targeting any specific job and was instead just looking for a general update to his resume with an emphasis towards roles as an Electrical Commissioner. Upon reviewing the resume initially sent to me, I noted that there was an impressive amount of detail regarding project specifications and prior projects that the client had worked on. As it demonstrated highly relevant experience for his preferred position, I was careful to preserve this in the final document.
Given the client’s highly technical field of work, I researched a variety of related jobs positions online and reviewed his previous workplaces to determine any industry-specific keywords or other pertinent factors that may be important to present. To ensure I did not misrepresent the client’s experience, I was careful to cross-check all details with the information presented in his previous resume, as well as the notes I obtained during my discussion with him. During the consultation, I asked the client to outline some of his personal career achievements, and was able to acquire a list of highly relevant achievements that outlined his duties working on numerous large-scale projects.
As a result of the fairly high volume of information recovered both through the consultation and initial resume, I was faced with a challenge of organising and sorting the client’s responsibilities in a more accessible manner. To do this, I eventually decided to categorise his key workplace responsibilities by his main areas of competency (technical skills, project management, safety and customer service) so that any potential employers can gain an immediate understanding of his relevant skills.
