A passionate and dedicated Community Support Worker was looking for a shift in career path and needed to showcase her achievements in her application. The application required responses to many selection criteria encompassing all main aspects of the position. By reading her CV and researching the role she was applying for, I could see the client had extensive experience in the sector. Therefore, it was my job to guide her to identify examples we could use to demonstrate how she met the selection criteria, and then communicate her achievements using the language of the employer.
My client provided excellent situations to address the criteria. In order to write accurately and use her experiences to the best advantage, I encouraged her to give as much detail as possible. Working in a field that focuses on outcomes meant it was quite easy to point out the positive results of her actions. I followed up with her again after our initial consultation to gain more information and further strengthen her application.
Following the STAR (Situation, Task, Action and Result) model to address the criteria resulted in responses that clearly demonstrated her suitability for the role. Any employer would benefit from hiring her.
